  • Lotus Instant Messaging integration— Instant messaging functionality has been incorporated into Notes 6.5, providing presenceawareness and the ability for users to open a chat session with other Lotus Instant Messaging(Sametime®) users without separately launching the Lotus Instant Messaging application. Users canincrease productivity through the ability to instantly collaborate with colleagues, while remainingwithin the context of a specific task.

End users benefit from an innovative collaborative workplace, whichprovides quick and easy access to multiple information sources.
  • Follow-up flags— Users can mark entries in their mail with a follow-up flag. The follow-up flag allows users toindicate to themselves that there is further action to be taken, helping to maximize responsivenessto incoming requests.
  • Replied to and/or forwarded indicators— This provides a way for users to easily determine whether they have responded to or forwarded aparticular e-mail. Icon indicators are provided at the view level, and an iconic indicator in thenote header of an e-mail shows that a reply or forward has already occurred. This helps users tomaximize responsiveness to e-mail and to more efficiently manage the information and tasks in theirinbox.
  • Block sender mail rule— This allows users to add a specified sender to a block sender list so that future messages fromthat address are blocked from displaying in the inbox view. Future mail from this sender will beautomatically moved to the Junk Mail view. Users can potentially benefit from less junk mail intheir inbox, helping them to more quickly navigate to the important messages.
  • QuickRules— The ability to create QuickRules is now provided on the Tools drop down menu. This allows usersto quickly and easily create a rule, based on a specific e-mail, that can help them manage the flowof information in their inbox. A dialogue box will prompt users for the type of rule they wouldlike to create (delete, change priority, move to a folder). Users can maximize their productivityby freeing up time to focus on more important tasks.
  • Unread e-mail view— Users can now easily toggle on/off between showing only unread mail in the inbox view, with asingle click on the action bar. This can help users to better focus on the mail they have yet toact upon.
  • Drag and drop e-mail to Calendar or To Do bookmark to create a copy-into effect— Users now can drag an e-mail from a mail view to the Calendar or To Do bookmark and create a newcalendar entry or to do — helping to save time by accelerating the process of creating a newcalendar entry or to do. The calendar entry or to do is automatically populated with the relevantinformation from the e-mail and the user can also add other details as required for the entry.
  • Print e-mails without distribution list— Users can specify their preference whether or not to include the 'to:' and 'cc:' field contentswhen printing a memo or a calendar entry, helping to save space on printed materials when there is alengthy distribution list.
  • Set Notes as default e-mail client— Users can now set Lotus Notes as their default mail client. When they click a 'mailto:' link ona Web page, a new message window will automatically open in Notes, allowing users to start workingfaster.
  • Export views to Comma Separated Views (CSV)— Users can now easily export data from a view in Notes to a spreadsheet, helping to increaseproductivity and offering flexibility in how users choose to present information. • Linux client support delivered via Mozilla browser— Domino Web Access 6.5 extends messaging and collaboration to Linux clients with support for theMozilla browser, making it the first-ever fully supported client-to-server collaboration solutionfor Linux. Domino Web Access is now an ideal solution to realize the potential cost savings ofdeploying Linux at both the server and the client ends. Because it is a browser-based messagingsolution, Domino Web Access can be deployed with little or no client-side deployment cost — a hugepotential savings for any organization looking to extend messaging and collaboration to additionalusers.
  • Block sender mail rule— This allows Domino Web Access users to add a specified sender to a block sender list so thatfuture messages from that address are blocked from displaying in the inbox view. Future mail fromthis sender will be automatically moved to the Junk Mail view. Users can potentially benefit fromless junk mail in their inbox, helping to quickly navigate to the important messages.
  • Copy into— Domino Web Access users now have the ability to copy the body of a received message into a newto do item or calendar entry with a single click, saving time and allowing users to more efficientlymanage daily tasks.

The Webmail redirect is adatabase that resides on the server and processes URLs. Using Domino authentication methods, DominoWeb Access will redirect a user's browser to their mail file based on their user name and password.Users need only to go to a simple primary URL (name of the Domino Web Access redirect server) andthey will be transported to their mail file.
  • Ability to easily customize the design template— Domino Web Access 6.5 provides the mechanism for customers to easily modify or customize designtemplates to better fit their business needs. Domino developers can customize the design of selectforms of the iNotes™ template using Lotus Domino Designer®. Modifications can include: addingaction buttons to views or dialog boxes, providing additional choices for the Welcome Page, andreplacing the Domino Web Access logo with a corporate logo.
  • Server-side caching of generated and compressed content— Domino Web Access now caches certain static data, such as forms, so the mail client only needsto bring down the data once — instead of requesting the data from the server each time —resulting in improved scalability and performance.
  • Gzip compression— Gzip compression of Domino Web Access content is done to reduce network bandwidth consumptionand improve client performance on slow networks (modems). This can help improve client-sideperformance, especially in regions where bandwidth is at a premium.
