Colt 1917 Revolver Serial Numbers
This is an extremely rare Colt Model 1861 Navy revolver manufactured very early in the first year of production, 1861, and is one of only 100 that were produced with a fully fluted cylinder. Serial numbers of this variation fall under 100 and around the 4,800 range. Don't they know more exactly when they made a gun and issued a serial to it? Click to expand. I don't know about the online database, but when I called them with the S/N of a Colt pre-ban AR-15, they were able to tell me the month and year it was built.
